It's always an adventure...

I got to meet my new baby cousin, Brooke {she's precious and so tiny!}, and left Jack with Kaylene.  He had a blast and barely wanted to come back with me.  We went straight from there to have lunch with Ned.  I noticed as I was putting him in the car seat that his diaper was starting to leak, but since he was already buckled in, I decided I would just change him when I got to the hospital.  Jack fell asleep on the way, and apparently dumped the entire contents of his bladder during the trip, because when got there, his shorts were soaked.  I got him out to change him, only to discover that his diapers were back in Payson with Kaylene still.  We grabbed Ned and headed to the nearest grocery store for diapers and went to lunch (Jack's shorts are still wet).

As soon as I got home, I dumped the car seat in the washer and the baby in the bath.  I left Jack in the bath and went to grab a fresh towel for him my bedroom.  [I NEVER do this.  I know it's dangerous, but my bedroom is adjacent to the bathroom and the door was open.]  I come back in not even a minute later, and Jack says, "Ca-ca, Mommy!"  Yep, there it is floating in the corner of the tub.  Disgusting.  I have to get it out, drain the tub, and then re-bathe my baby.  EW!

On the plus side, Jack got what he's always begging for- 3 baths in one day!

Apparently I posted too soon- the day wasn't over!  After being bathed and diapered, we settled into the living room.  Jack was playing with toys;  I was working on a silhouette of him (which I'm very excited about- it's so cute!).  I got up to answer my phone {Ned, on his way home from work}, I turned around and Jack is painting our couch with black acrylic paint.  I grabbed the closest thing-a wet wipe- to do some damage control, and looked back and he has the black paint all over the carpet.  So I just picked him up and took with me to get the carpet cleaner.  I spray it and turn my attention back to the couch.  Two seconds later Jack is covered up to his armpits in foaming carpet cleaner.  Plus I realized I had paint on my foot and I was tracking it.  About this time Ned got home, and I just handed Jack to him to take care of, so I could clean up the mess.  Jack promptly peed all over him in his work clothes.  What a day!  He was one step ahead of me all day, and I just couldn't keep up.  It's a good thing he's so sweet- as he was heading out the door with Ned tonight he said, "Love you, Mama!"

Jack Trivia

Here are a few facts about Jack right now-
  • He is sixteen months old and suddenly not a baby anymore.
  • He is a SuPeR busy kid.  If he's not rearranging my tupperware, he's scaling the couches and jumping from windows.
  • His favorite trick right now is a somersault.  Given the right mood and a crowd of people to cheer for him, he will gladly show you.
  • He is a pro at animal noises.  Seriously, it's his favorite thing to do right now.
  • Jack is still a picky eater, but he does a few favorites.  right now, that list includes: grapefruit, masseman curry on rice, mashed potatoes, smack & cheese, pulled pork & BBQ sauce, and sweet potato fries.  Also mustard.  He goes back and forth with mustard, and right now he's back liking it.
  • He gives everybody kisses.  Let me illustrate that with a picture:  This will be a great photo for blackmail someday.
  • He thinks it is so funny if we are grossed out when we change his diaper.  He laughs and laughs if we gag or make a face!
We are so crazy about this kid and fall more in love with him every day!

A day in the life of...

8:00
Brownies for breakfast.  I deserve the Mom of the year award, I know.

 9:00
We woke up to 8 inches of snow.  He's not playing in the snow in his diaper.  Just looking through the window.  I may let my baby have a brownie for breakfast, but I'm not going to let him get frostbite.

10:00
We made a "snowcone."  I say this because 1. it's shaped more like a traffic cone than a snowman, and 2. Jack was eating it as fast as I could make it.

11:00
Playing sweetly with his favorite cars.

11:15
Full-on temper tantrum.

11:30
And back to playing sweetly.

12:00
Finally getting around to bathtime.

12:30
Off to meet Daddy for lunch.

 1:00

1:15
One hand on the cup, one hand on the bottle.

2:00

 3:00
Jack is obsessed with Super Why.  He shrieks with delight and does a little dance when it comes on.

4:00
Checking in on a few of my favorite blogs.

5:10
Daddy comes home at exactly 5:10 and Jack is more than ready for it!

6:00
A quick jam session with Daddy before dinner.
Appearently this is when our day ended.  Or at least when I forgot to keep taking pictures.
